Interior Door Handle Hole Size

Interior door handle hole size. It features two bi metal hole saws and a height alignment window for accuracy. The two most common are 5 1 2 and 6 from the centers of the two holes. The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the giant hole you drill in the face of the door. Exterior locksets commonly have a 2 and 3 4 inch backset.
Tape the template to the door and mark the centers of the lockset and barrel hole by making an indentation with the tip of a spade bit. This is the backset dimension bore a 1 inch hole in the edge of the door located on the centerline of the 2 1 8 inch hole. The point where the two lines intersect is the center of the hole. The center of this hole should be located 2 3 8 inches or 2 3 4 inches back from the edge of the door.
It works for 2 3 8 in. When boring deadbolt locks in a door there are two standards for spacing between the bottom lock and the deadbolt. You ll be using a 2 1 8 inch hole saw to drill the hole for the typical interior or exterior doorknob. In most cases the door set which is inside of the door and controls the door latch.
Mark the line at 2 3 4 inches for an exterior door. The hole saw has a pilot bit that centers on the mark. Most interior doors are prepped with a single boor hole. Lock spacing the distance between two locks.
Choose the mark that corresponds to the door width. The standard sized bore hole is 2 1 8 in diameter. Backsets and 1 3 8 in. The latch will fit into the 1 inch hole.
Cross or edge bore. Note that the template offers two possibilities for the barrel hole one for a 1 3 8 inch door and one for a 1 3 4 inch door. To know where to drill this hole from the edge of the door you need to know the backset of the lockset. Fit into the door prep shown above.
This cross bore is where the latch is installed. Most interior locksets have a 2 and 3 8 inch backset. Measure from the center of the door knob hole to the edge of the doorway to find the size of the door set. Bore a 2 1 8 inch hole through the door.
The bore hole is the large diameter hole where the door knob is mounted. Through the edge of the door there is a 1 cross bore that extends from the edge of the door through the bore hole.
